Opera in twee aktes naar het Bijbels verhaal van de profeet Jona. De samenwerking tussen componist Willem Breuker en theoloog en schrijver Karel Deurloo begon in 1997. In het verhaal van de profeet Jona vonden hij en Willem Breuker een aanleiding voor hun volgend project. Het oud-testamentische verhaal van de stijfkoppige, soms clowneske profeet met zijn wonderbaarlijke avonturen heeft een aantrekkelijke humor, maar stelt ook vragen over vergeving en vergelding.

Opera in two acts after the Biblical adventures of Jona, the prophet. The collaboration between Willem Breuker and the theologian and author Karel Deurloo started in 1997 with the oratorio Psalm 122. In the story of the prophet Jonah he and Willem Breuker found the material for their next project. The Old Testament story of the stubborn, sometimes clown-like prophet and his odd adventures has an appealing humour, but also poses questions that are still topical about forgiveness and retribution.
